Day 2 Reflection

July 5, 2011

Today’s class felt much more relaxing to me. We started out with a video about, The Reading Process. One thing that stood out to me was the fact that reading is explicitly taught and not done by chance. It confirmed to me once again, as a primary teacher/principal, the importance of teaching reading in the early grades using a variety of diverse educational instructional strategies and methods.

The remainder of our class was very busy working in a group to complete assignment 1: Task Anaylsis of the Reading Process. My group consisted of Krista, Julie and myself. We worked very well together and accomplished lots. I really appreciated the opportunity to work on this assignment during class time and felt that it was indeed very educational and worthwhile. I enjoyed using the program, Kidspiration and found it to be a very effective tool for making charts, graphic organizers and general organization. I look forward to having the opportunity to explore the program in more detail and share it with students and colleagues. I can see where Kidspiration can be a very effective program for students and teachers.

I continued to use my iPhone today for many of the same uses as yesterday. I did use the flashlight ap last night. I continued to correspond with family and friends through texting, checked the weather, used the map, sent emails, took a video and photos. I am most certainly convinced that my iPhone has been a very educational and useful gift!! Looking forward to using it in class tomorrow!
